SALT
LAKE OLYMPIC BID COMMITTEE:
Club 2002
The Salt Lake City
Olympic Bid Committee conducted numerous fundraising efforts
to generate the financing to carry on the bid effort for the
2002 Winter Olympics. Most of the efforts had been aimed at
wealthy individuals and corporations with little effort to the
"every-day Joe." We developed "Club 2002"
with two goals in mind: 1) generate money to further the bid
effort and, 2) to offer regular citizens the opportunity to
participate in the bid effort and give them a sense of "belonging."
One of the most important components to the success of the bid
effort was community support. "Club 2002" brought
people together and helped to build grass root support. For
only $20.02, anyone could join "Club 2002." Members
received newsletters, a "Club 2002" window sticker,
T-shirt, label pin and membership card. The club generated thousands
of members. |
