InfoTrax turned to Merrell Remington to help market, DataTrax - a direct sales distributor management system software package. InfoTrax wanted to send a direct mail piece to the 500 prospective customers planning on attending a conference where InfoTrax was an exhibitor with this message - "InfoTrax is an industry leader in enhancing the performance of a customer's direct sales infrastructure through integrating the power of Web customer interface with IT operations." How do you say that in English? The vehicle we chose was a three-dimensional "tool box." Enclosed in the tool box were a series of "tools" that represented different features of the DataTrax software-like a Communication Enhancement Facilitation Device (which is actually a cotton swab), or a Broadcast Message Capabilities Integrator (a breath mint), etc. The message behind the piece was that the DataTrax software was essentially a set of tools that a direct sales business can employ to help its distributor management system run at peak efficiency.

This campaign created tremendous activity among tradeshow attendees and helped establish InfoTrax in the direct sales industry.
